No previous experience of handling electric narrowboats or diesel narrowboats is necessary, as full tuition will be given covering things such as how to steer the narrowboat, lock operation and waterway etiquette. We also provide a boat manual covering all aspects of the canal boat.
Pets are welcome and they generally have a great time too. It costs just an
extra £15.00 per pet, per booking. However please keep them off the upholstery
and bedding.
Please note that we do not allow pets on some of our canal boats.
We recommend a detailed guidebook specifically about this canal written by John Norris. Full of information about the canal and canal etiquette, which we believe, will enhance the enjoyment of your holiday. This guide book is included in the cost of your narrowboat holiday and will be sent to you on payment of your final balance.
We are situated approximately 3 miles due west of Abergavenny, in the village of Gilwern. From the centre of Gilwern take the A4077 towards Brecon/Crickhowell. After approximately 200 yards turn left up Church Road, opposite the Corn Exchange Public House. After approximately 200 yards you will go over the canal, take next left into Maesygwartha Road then directly left down the drive onto our wharf. MAP
Other activities available on your canal holiday are fishing, climbing, walking. Pony trekking and indoor swimming pools are available within easy reach of the canal.
Yes, either double duvets or single sleeping bags, as per your requirements on the booking form. One pillow per person is provided; please ask if you would like more.
The hire charge includes gas, diesel, electricity, guide book, on site car parking, bedding, bouyancy aids and damage waiver cover. The only additional cost is for any pet.
