Is any
experience needed?
No previous experience of handling narrowboats
is necessary, as full tuition will be given
covering things such as how to steer the boat,
lock operation and waterway etiquette. We also
provide a boat manual covering all aspects of
the boat. |
Can I
bring my pet?
Pets are welcome and they generally have a great
time too. It costs just an extra £15.00 per pet,
per booking. However please keep them off the
upholstery and bedding.
Please note that no pets are allowed on
Beaumaris Castle, Kidwelly Castle or Grosmont
Castle. |
How can
I find out more about the canal?
We recommend a detailed guidebook specifically
about this canal written by John Norris. Full of
information about the canal and canal etiquette,
which we believe, will enhance the enjoyment of
your holiday. This guide book is included in the
cost of your holiday and will be sent to you on
payment of your final balance. |
How do I
find you?
We are situated approximately 3 miles due west
of Abergavenny, in the village of Gilwern. From
the centre of Gilwern take the A4077 towards
Brecon/Crickhowell. After approximately 200
yards turn left up Church Road, opposite the
Corn Exchange Public House. After approximately
200 yards you will go over the canal, take next
left into Maesygwartha Road then directly left
down the drive onto our wharf. |
Are there any other activities?
Other activities
include fishing, climbing, walking. Pony
trekking and indoor swimming pools are available
within easy reach of the canal. |
Do you provide bedding?
Yes, either double
duvets or single sleeping bags, as per your
requirements on the booking form. One pillow per
person is provided; please ask if you would like
more. |
Are there any extras to pay?
The hire charge
includes gas, diesel, electricity, guide book, on site car
parking, bedding and damage waiver insurance.
The only additional cost is for any pet. |
Can I take a short
break?
These are available on our Friday and Monday
start boats. You can take either a weekend
break, starting at 3pm on Friday and finishing at
9.30am on Monday, or a mid week break, starting
at 3pm on Monday and finishing at 9.30am on
Friday. |
